Hearth and Hamlet Patch 1.0.01–1.1.0 Summary

Hearth and Hamlet patches 1.0.01–1.1.0: research pinning, saved building progress, cheaper portals, blue-arrow fast travel and the Ashenholt army fix.

8/30/2026 Last updated: 10/3/2026

Last verified: October 2, 2026 — Hearth and Hamlet patch 1.1.0 is the current live version (app 4315040, launched August 19, 2026).

At a glance

Patch 1.1.0 is the current live build. The 1.0.01–1.0.07 launch series is still in the log below. The most gameplay-relevant 1.0.x changes: blue arrows now fast travel on Shift+Click, one-way and stable portals got cheaper, and the Ashenholt army quest bug was fixed.

1.1.0 (October 1)

Your current save keeps working. You do not start over. The Steam Community announcement on October 1, 2026 adds research pinning, and pinned research and buildings are saved and restored when you reload, so the nodes and plots you marked are still marked after you quit.

Gameplay: Pin research to keep track of the tree while you build. Pinned research and buildings restore on load. The bottom-left UI was redesigned for Steam Deck and other small screens; the mouse cursor now scales with UI scaling on high-res displays. Arrow keys move the camera (WASD still works). Spacebar and Enter no longer harvest. Use Hover to Click in the options menu so you do not gather a tile while looking at another part of the map. Lord’s Manor is renamed Noble’s Manor. One-way Magic Portal and Stable Magic Portal got new icons. An arrow points at the education building when the next blueprint level unlocks.

Bug fixes: Town Guards no longer get trapped. One-way and Stable Portals now activate correctly at the Wizard Academy. Harvesting stops if you fast-travel away. Gathering should no longer push a resource over its maximum. The research-book tab no longer flashes for unpurchased upgrades before those resources are unlocked. Item and policy status effects were overlapping the UI when many were active. Farm, ocean-tile, and town graphical glitches were cleaned up. Linux launch UI display is fixed. Tooltip text no longer shrinks too small at lower UI scaling.

Other changes: More RAM work and faster load times on top of 1.0.07. Lowering the difficulty now warns you if that will affect completion achievements. The Options menu layout fits lower-resolution screens better; 720p is no longer a window preset (the game still runs there, but UI is not optimised below 800p). A tooltip warns that UI scaling too high for the current resolution can overlap or run off-screen.

Hearth and Hamlet is 20% off in the Steam Autumn Sale from October 1 through October 8. That is a store price, not a gameplay change.

1.0.07 (September 5)

A memory-only patch. The developer describes it as focused entirely on reducing the game’s footprint: hundreds of changes cut VRAM usage by about 1.1 GB, aimed at improving stability on lower-spec hardware. There are no gameplay or balance changes — see the Steam Deck and crash page for what it means for memory-related crashes.

1.0.06 (August 29)

Gameplay: A new tutorial popup was added to avoid confusion when building your first ship.

Bug fixes: Fixed a very rare but stubborn bug where the Ashenholt army could fail to spawn, or the quest could be skipped after a failed attempt.

Other changes: Dozens of audio assets were altered to use less RAM while retaining quality. The recommended Steam requirements were raised to 16 GB RAM (up from 8 GB) — 8 GB still works, but leaves little room for multitasking.

1.0.05 (August 27)

Gameplay: One-Way and Stable Portals are cheaper to purchase.

Bug fixes: One-Way Portals now activate at the Wizard Academy Shop instead of the Town Square. Numerous small graphical glitches fixed.

Other changes: First wave of VRAM optimisation across hundreds of assets — aimed at players experiencing VRAM-related crashes, white squares or textures not loading. Steam launch options refined.

1.0.04 (August 24)

Bug fixes: Fixed a rare crash when an enemy died. Fixed a rare bug where you could fail to defeat an enemy army for a quest but proceed as if you succeeded. Numerous spelling errors fixed.

Other changes: Defunct telemetry completely removed.

1.0.03 (August 22)

Gameplay: Blue arrows updated — Shift + Click now fast travels to the blue arrow’s location; blue arrows ignore regular mouse clicks to prevent accidental fast travelling.

Bug fixes: Fixed a bug where exiting during a zombie invasion and loading a save would leave the invasion active in the new game. Minor graphical bugs. Fixed the Soup Kitchen description to correctly display +20% food consumption.

Other changes: The Education Building’s reward description now indicates whether it unlocks blueprint research.

1.0.02 (August 22)

Gameplay: Space bar can still gather resources after clicking a harvest location, but only while hovering over that location.

Bug fixes: Fixed a bug where people with very high dexterity could build a second location after constructing a building. Fixed “Hover to Click” gathering double resources. Fixed a rare bug causing locations to build beyond max level. Spelling/grammar fixes.

1.0.01 (August 21)

Gameplay: Research book tabs locked to one side to prevent confusion. Added a ‘Hover to Click’ option — enabling it removes the need to click and hold to harvest resources. Added a smart tooltip advising about blueprints when hovering over them on the building menu. Quest descriptions adjusted for clarity.

Bug fixes: Fixed some fishermen fishing in the middle of town. Fixed missing research upgrades in the Farm and Hunting research book. Adjusted Research Book hitboxes. Fixed a rare issue that could block the magic trading ‘Buy’ button. Numerous small graphics issues Fixed. Shrunk the blue arrow hitbox (blue arrows can be disabled in options).

Other changes: Save system redesigned with backup saves and safeguards to resist corruption from power failures. Quest window takes less vertical space.

What this means for your run

  • 1.1.0: pin research (and buildings); those pins come back after a reload. Spacebar and Enter no longer harvest; use Hover to Click.
  • Use Shift+Click on blue arrows to travel fast — plain clicks no longer teleport.
  • Portals are cheaper since 1.0.05, and one-way portals are now bought at the Wizard Academy.
  • If a quest asks you to defeat an enemy army and it seems to fail wrongly, that was a launch bug — fixed in 1.0.06.
  • The Soup Kitchen shows +20% food consumption correctly now (it was mislabelled at launch).
  • 16 GB RAM is the new recommended spec for multimasking; 8 GB still runs the game.
